Risqué Tout by Lentheric c1935

Risqué Tout by Lentheric: launched in 1935. The name means "Risk Everything!" in French. The perfume was marketed as "Tweed" in the USA. Risque Tout was the name used in Europe, Central and South America.



Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a mossy fougere/chypre fragrance for women with a distinctive herbal lavender note. It begins with a fresh, flowery, fruity top, followed by a classic floral heart, resting on a powdery base.

  • Top notes: bergamot, neroli, fruity note, orange geranium and violet
  • Middle notes: rose, jasmine, carnation, orris, narcissus, lilac, ylang-ylang, lavender, orange flower and magnolia 
  • Base notes: musk, styrax, honey, cinnamon, sandalwood, civet, leather, oakmoss, patchouli, benzoin, vanilla and vetiver


Marie-Claire, 1937:
"Risk Everything by Lentheric: Fresh and addictive. Dominant notes: oak moss, essence of wood, musk, jasmine."

International Associations, 1951:
"LENTHERIC Risque Tout (Tweed), Répartee, Miracle, Shanghaï."

The Spectator, 1956:
"Lentheric's 'Risque Tout' has become 'Tweed' and while the French manufacturers christen a new get-your- man brew 'Lasso,' British retailers plug it in their windows as 'un nouveau parfum'".


Bottles: 


Clear glass bottle holds 1/2 oz of parfum. Stands approx. 2 1/4" tall. Square shape with rectangular frosted glass stopper. It also has the Risque-Tout (the other name of this fragrance) printed on the gold foil label. Lentheric is printed on the bottom step of the box in gold. Bottle is most likely a wartime edition, late 1930s-1940s.

Risque Tout was presented in a small mini perfume. The clear glass bottle is just 2" tall with Red plastic cap. Note the early 1930s Lentheric double 'L' logo on the box and label. This presentation dates to the 1930s.

Fate of the Fragrance:

Discontinued, date unknown.
